It’s time to fall into sustainable savings by improving your imprint— October marks Energy Awareness Month! Did you know that upgrading or retrofitting your HVAC system can have substantial impacts on reducing energy usage and utility bill costs, while positively effecting the environment? Now more than ever, we’re hyper-aware of how our actions impact the world around us; and as you might have guessed, rethinking your home’s heating and cooling system is a significant way to reduce your carbon footprint.
Pollution caused by burning fossil fuels is playing a massive role in climate change. In fact, fossil fuel-generated electricity accounts for 20% of all greenhouse gas emissions. That’s why at AC&R we install and service the latest energy efficient designs— Our heating and cooling experts offer newer home comfort methods which include:
- Geothermal Heat Pumps— AC&R has been offering geothermal systems since 1982. Geothermal heating and cooling systems use the renewable energy available from the earth to provide heating and cooling, without burning any fossil fuel. It’s been proven that these comfort systems have the potential to save home and business owners up to 10% on heating and air conditioning bills and reduce energy output by as much as 44%! In fact, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency named geothermal as one of the most energy-efficient, environmentally-friendly technologies on the market today.
- Split Ductless Heat Pumps— Heat pumps are a very efficient alternative to electric heat. Heat pumps move heat rather than generate heat. Working the same as an air conditioner in the summer, these systems run in reverse in the winter by extracting heat energy from the outside air and transferring it into your home. At AC&R many of our heat pumps have advanced features, such as variable capacity, two-stage compressors, and variable speed fan operation, which not only improve the comfort level of your home but can provide additional energy savings as well.
- Boilers— If your home has hot water radiators in each room for heat, you have a boiler to heat the water. Boilers manufactured since 1992 must have an Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) rating of at least 80%, but at AC&R we offer a complete line of boilers with efficiency ratings up to as high as 96% AFUE.
