Clean out of your Air Conditioner’s Fins

With warm weather coming to an end, it’s time to schedule a clean out of your Air Conditioner’s Fins. This task can do a lot to keep your air conditioning running its best and can be a part of a larger maintenance appointment.

What are Air Conditioning Fins?

Your AC’s fins can be broken down into two different types: Condenser Fins and Evaporator Fins.

Condenser Fins are the thin metal slats running along the exterior of your unit. Their job is to move warm air away from the unit while it’s running, which is why it’s important to keep them clean.

Evaporator Fins are found inside the unit. Their job is to cool the outside air and send it into your home. When these fins aren’t cleaned, they could push warmer air into your home and use more energy.

Why my Air Conditioner’s Fins?

It’s crucial not to power wash or clean with anything that could damage the delicate fins or any other part of the AC unit. These slats can also be very sharp, so keeping your hands out of the metal will keep you from possibly getting cut. The best tool for cleaning out the fins is by using a Air Conditioner Fin Comb. This small tool is made to do this exact job, delicately cleaning out trapped gunk and debris from both the Condenser Fins and the Evaporator Fins.
